Nintendo DS emulator for Windows

Want to play Nintendogs on your PC? Well, you can’t – not just yet anyway. But there is DS emulator for Windows, it’s called “DeSmuME”, and it’s free! Although DeSmuME currently plays only a few commercial DS games, it does play many of the homebrew games and applications for the DS. At the rate that DeSmuME is developing, it can only be a matter of time until we see a fully fledged DS emulator for Windows.
New mobile browser – Microsoft DeepFish

Microsoft have announced their new browser for mobile devices, ‘DeepFish’. One of the most interesting features of DeepFish is that it only loads the visible part of each webpage (the bit you’re actually looking at), instead of the whole page all at once. It also has several zoom features that allow you to navigate pages more easily, even if you’re using a device with a tiny screen. DeepFish is currently released as a limited beta – more info here.
Download DVD Shrink

If you want to ‘backup’ your retail DVDs onto DVD-R – then DVD Shrink is where it’s at. All you need to do is pop your store bought DVD into your computer’s DVD drive, let DVD Shrink work it’s re-encoding magic, and then burn the results onto a blank DVD-R. What you end up with is practically an exact copy of your retail DVD – plus it keeps the menus intact. Best of all, DVD Shrink is free.
According to the DVD Shrink website, they can’t actually host or directly link to DVD Shrink due to U.S. laws, so some people have had trouble trying to download DVD Shrink – but forget that, you can get it for free here.
iTunes for PPC

Well… kinda. If you’ve got a Windows Mobile Pocket PC device, then this is something you absolutely need to check out. RemoteAmp is a Pocket PC application that allows you to wirelessly control (using WiFi) Winamp and iTunes running on your desktop or laptop. If you’ve got your computer audio outputs piped through your house, you can effectively turn your PDA into a very serious remote control that’s only limited by the range of your home WiFi network. RemoteAmp lets you search for songs, browse playlists, and control the EQ – all with practically zero latency. We’ve tried a few of the other iTunes/Winamp PPC remote applications, and they’re all pretty good – but RemoteAmp wins hands down for ease of use and simple setup.
