Play-Yan Micro
Play movies on the DS & GameBoy!
Nintendo’s new Play-Yan Micro media player lets you play MPEG-4 movies and MP3s on the Nintendo DS, DS Lite and GameBoy (GBA, GBASP and GBM) – all from a standard SD memory card. The Play-Yan Micro supports MP3 playback up to 320kbps, variable bit rate, ID3 tags, and delivers suprisingly good sound quality through the built in headphone output.
The Play-Yan Micro ships with Panasonic’s Media Stage video conversion software, and athough the software is in Japanese it’s pretty simple to work out. If you run into problems with the Japanese text, there are plenty of popular freeware video conversion tools available – PSP Video 9 is a good one, originally made for the PSP, but it works great for the Play-Yan.
